I think this information is great. We need to prepare our students to be successful in the growing technology world. They need to be competitive in this economy. Before we can properly teach our students to be technology smart and use good judgement with technology, we as teachers need to be instructed as well. I personally do not feel like I am making an impact on my students in the technology world. In our school some students do not get a technology class because they are taking lab classes after lab classes because of not passing TAKS. As a classroom teacher that gets all the kids, I need to be implementing technology skills in my class. It is not happening. I do use the laptops in my room, but I have trouble getting all the computers on the Internet at the same time. I can usually get 5 laptops on the Internet and I need at least 15 on the Internet if the students are sharing. If they are working by themselves I need more that 25. It becomes very frustrating to have planned for this lesson and then the technology does not work.
I am also skeptical about where does the state think they are going to get the money for this plan. Our district has had to have 10% bedget cuts the past 2 years. I hope the funding becomes available.

It would be nice if we could make project based learning an integral part of the curriculum, but I think most educators are not equipped to do this. We need more professional development in this area, but we also need the resources, time, and support in which to make this happen!
